Elg Gin No. 4 is like Elg No. 1 based on juniper berries, coriander, carrot, and an extract of violet carrots from Lammefjord in Odsherred, Denmark.
VIOLETTE YELLOW ROOTS
In July, the freshly picked violet carrots arrives at the distillery, which is immediately soaked in 50% spirits. Slowly the spirits becomes more and more violet. At the same time, the alcohol percentage drops as the spirits, as the it draws out the water of the carrots. After 1 week, the carrots are sieved off and the violet extract is filtered. The result is an extract of 38% alc. vol. containing a wide range of flavors which is not obtained by distillation.
THE PERFECT SERVING
Elg. No. 4 is a gin that can be enjoyed with ice and tonic and a slice of orange, but also fits well with vermouth as a dry martini.
